The Graco Slim Fit car seat provides parents with exceptional value for their money. It stands out as an outstanding performer in crash testing and installation using LATCH, with long rear-facing lifespan for up to 43 inches or 40 pounds, depending on which comes first.
The Slim Fit features an easy-to-use harness system with an easy square buckle and chest clip mechanism, yet its tightening strap requires additional effort when tightening it due to resistance from its material – which may make tightening more challenging than some other seats we reviewed. However, there’s no lock-off or color-coding for proper tightening; thus achieving optimal tightness could prove challenging in practice.
This seat’s only downside is its heavyweight, which could limit portability. For something lighter and with even better crash test results than Slim Fit, consider the 4Ever DLX; its crash test results even outshone that of Slim Fit while remaining very lightweight. Alternatively, Evenflo Tribute 5 scored highly during our tests while remaining lightweight – perfect for an all-in-one car seat solution!
Cleaning the Headrest
Graco Slim Fit exceeded most other seats in our tests of headrest longevity and hygiene, offering parents easy height adjustments as their child grows. Plus, its machine washable headrest pad was another plus point.

LATCH storage was simple and straightforward for this seat; however, instructions weren’t as clear for installing it rear-facing. We found that its results exceeded those of many of the other seats we tested in terms of comfort and quality; its low price point made it all the better. Unfortunately, its only real drawback is not providing as much room for taller babies since its highest setting falls behind their shoulders.
